Kia Ora!!! Aotearoa (Part 4)

Day 4 - Rotorua - AucklandSay goodbye Rotorua! Taking pictures by the Lake Taupo before heading back to Auckland.

We took a different route back because we wanted to make a stop at Matamata...its the 'Hobbiton town' which appeared in the LOTR movies... but owhh... we did not go to the movie set per se as to do so we would have to take the tour bus plus the movie set is hilly... we have Aida remember? mana nak cari child capsule for the bus? Anyway Aida's happy enuff to snappy snappy with 'Gollum' as seen in this pic...

and of course the happiest person is Daddy!!! (psstt..he's such a LOTR freak! ;)) love ya Daddy!

We arrived in Auckland late noon again, checked into hotel and headed straight to the shopping strip - Queen St. After the shops were closed (alas!) we went to the pier to take some photos... Unfortunately we were reaching the end of our holiday... huhu... :(

Day 5 - Auckland - Sydney

Getting ready for the flight home...

our lil' darling very manja with Daddy...

first she played peek-a-boo with the passenger behind us, then she 'sang/talked' rather loudly! soooo cheeky this girl!

was it Aida getting bored and we had to 'entertain' her or was it Mommy and Daddy treating Aida like Odie?

Okay... that's all folks! We had a great holiday... and next trip on a plane? Prepare a homecoming party ya'all! We're coming up so you better get this party started...

Kia Ora!!! Aotearoa (Part 3)

Day 3 - Rotorua

So what's so special about Rotorua? It is the geothermal valley peeps! i.e. volcano land! So the next morning we went to Te Puia... check out the mud pool behind us... it is the biggest mud pool there... tak nampak? waitt...

tadaa! click on the pic to see a clearer view of the steam hissing out from the mud! Too bad this is a still photo, if not u peeps can also see the mud bubbles...

Owhh... did i tell you guys about the smell coming out from the mud pools? OMG!! the smell of the mud pool is soooooo unbearable okayy... really... we can actually smell the sulphur even before entering the Rotorua town!! And while it is very commoving to see the mud bubbles, standing next to it was like... err... stinky tungkik busuk!!

And this is the mighty Pohutu geyser... it means 'big splash/explosion' as this particular geyser can splash up till 30 metres high peeps! Tak tipuu... u can visit the Te Puia website... interesting read.

while we were there, she erupted! hmm... how high was it? dunno... but the water droplets left the visitors pretty wet! It was awesome!

Okay... enuff of the geysers and mud pools... next on the itinerary is the Maori culture show. This is a 'welcoming dance' outside of the 'house' called Rotowhio Marae meaning a focal meeting place. Let the show begin....

Before entering the Marae, the crowd outside were kinda pushing to get in - see all the tall Mat Sallehs above? And us with Aida's stroller? hmm... mimpi-lah... but hey! in the end we secured first row seats okay! How? hehehe thanks to Tok Wan! She's pretty good with all this pushing-tolak-rebut thing ya know...

The show went for about 45 minutes, they performed the Maori poi dance, games, songs and damn... these Maori peeps do have great voices! Our favourite? Hands down, its definitely the HAKKA dance!

Look - Aida scared? Nahhh... she's touching the 'ferocious' guy!!

last kopek snappy snappy... Below is the 'house' the Maoris built to store their food... why is it so big and high up? errr... let me check back my guidebook again and post it here later!! teehee...

Alrightyy... had enuff of the heat and sun... now its time to relax! So later we went to the Polynesian Spa - its a hot mineral bathing pool. While the pools were a lil' smelly (what can u say, the water is sulphuric and high in alkaline... temp? 37°C - 39°C), it was relaxing as the hot mineral waters are said to have remedial effect on ailments such as muscular aches, arthritis, and rheumatism. Aida? too hot for u-lar...

panth... panth... hmmphh... the hill was quite a hike... kesian Daddy had to carry Aida... sakit pinggang is it? Hmmm... there's a rail track on the side of the steps... yikes!!! Does anyone have any clue yet where we are?

tadaaaa!!! We're at an old gold mine! This is one of the small caves they dug to transport the gold to the ground... see... Tok Wan's such in a chirpy mood... jumpa gold ke Tok Wan?? tu buat handsign tembak.. tembak gold is it....

and snappy snappy before continuing our journey to Rotorua...

Kia Ora!!! Aotearoa (Part 1)

We went to Aotearoa (New Zealand) for our end of year holiday... we only had 4 hours of sleep from the New Year's Eve celebrations before having to wake up again to catch our early morning flight... Aida's such a trooper peeps... and yeah, Kia Ora means 'hello' in Maori language... it could also mean good health or thank you... neways... enjoy the photos of our lil' princess on her very first holiday abroad...

Day 1 : Sydney - Auckland
yay!!! Aida's first onboard pics...
doesn't look like she got that motion sickness thingy...

we arrived at the hotel around 4-ish (coz we gotta pick up the rental car and find our way to Auckland) so tak sempat go shopping coz the shops here close at 5 pm too... so we just lounged in the hotel...

<-hotel room : Japanese garden->
sempat mandi pool tu... Aida loves to tap the water and see it splash...

after dippin' in da pool we walked to the Sky City where its so beautiful at night time!

Day 2 : Auckland - Rotoroa

On the way to Rotorua we made a stop at Archilles Point with Auckland town in the background... yup, Mommy squinted as Aida got hold of the sunglasses!

somewhere between Paeroa and Tauranga we made another stop for Daddy to rest for a bit... he's been driving for 2 hours now and also to change Aida's wet nappy... while we lepak and snappy snappy Aida's cute pic sitting here with Leonard from Germany, we were told that behind the hills there, there's something to see!!! wahh... what could that be... hmm... any guesses peeps??? See ya in Part 2!
